Kerr County continues to rebuild the devastation of the July 2025 flood. According to Kerr Together, 130 Kerr County flood-survivor households have returned to permanent housing, while 98 additional households are progressing toward permanent housing solutions. In total, 228 flood-affected households are either home or moving through an established pathway toward permanent recovery.

Kerr County - artist adds 120 crosses to the Guadalupe River
A new wooden crosses memorial, lines the Guadalupe River in Kerr County. According to CBS Texas, the 120 crosses represent the people who died in last year’s floods. The artist Roberto Marquez, from Oak Cliff made some of the crosses from debris that washed up from the river. People have come to adorn the crosses with flowers and ribbons. Gillespie Co - Screwworm disaster zone declaration extended
Disaster zone classification in Gillespie County extended for an additional 30 days. Commissioners Court have unanimously approved the extension. A case of the New World Screwworm was reported in a goat in Harper. The Commissioners also voted against a new delinquent tax collection firm recommended by Scott Fair, Gillespie Central Appraisal District's Chief Appraiser. The court also approved $50,000 in HOT funds for Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park renovations.

Comfort - road work on 87
Microsurfacing operations now through Friday with daytime lane closures on US 87 from the IH-10/US 87 intersection in Comfort to the Kendall/Kerr County line. Motorists expect a one-lane, two-way traffic control setup with a pilot car from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Expect delays, follow all posted signs, and watch for road crews when traveling through the work zone.

Boerne’s new park on Adler Street will have a German inspired name. Boerne Heritage Volkspark was adopted by Boerne City Council unanimously during last week’s meeting. The community was asked to submit names for consideration.

Boerne - 4th of July
Boerne celebrating the 4th with a community firework show at Boerne City Park. The show begins at 9:15 p.m. Boerne City Park fields 1, 2 and 3 to be open to spectators. The Park is also available for parking to improve public safety and reduce fire risk. Although, spectators can bring snacks and beverages, food vendors to be onsite serving fair style foods such as hot dogs, nachos, and snacks. Remember glass containers are not allowed.

Boerne - boy recovered from City Lake
13-year-old San Antonio boy was recovered at Boerne City Lake just after 9 a.m. yesterday. Recovery teams found the boy, Jaylen Robinson, about 20 feet from shore in water at 12-15 feet deep. Robinson had been visiting with friends on his first time at the lake. Mental Health Officers and a Boerne PD chaplain were on hand during the search and after the recovery to provide care for the boy’s family.

Marble Falls - Fire station dedicat for Fire Chief Michael Phillips
Marble Falls flood victim commemorated at new fire station according to dailytrib.com. The Marble Falls Area Fire Department dedicated the station in Fire Chief Michael Phillips name. Phillips perished on his way to a call in the early morning hours of July 5 as flood waters swept through Central Texas. Although, his vehicle was recovered, his body was not. Besides being a volunteer fire fighter for 30 years, Phillips was an Airforce veteran and a 20 year employee of the Marb

Gillespie County reported 2 bodies found at an address on Hahn Road yesterday afternoon. Sheriff Chris Ayala reported that they may not be from Gillespie County and the incident may be a murder suicide. The next of kin have been notified. No other details have been released.

Texas A&M Agrilife receives federal funding
Texas A & M AgriLife receives federal funding for New World screwworm research. According to AgriLife Today, the organization will receive part of $105 million in research funding announced by the USDA, to bolster the nation’s defenses against New World screwworm or NWS. Texas A&M AgriLife was selected to lead 14 projects to address sterile fly production, product assessment and other tools.

Kerr Co - $10 million for Louise Hays Park
10 million dollars for Kerrville given by the Community Foundation of the Hill Country. According to CEO, Austin Dickson three quarters of the money will go to rebuilding Louise Hays Park. Millions of dollar has also gone to housing aid for flood survivors and business recovery grants. 600K was also given to support a new emotional support center opening next week on Water Street.

Bandera Co - Declaration of Local State Disaster
Declaration of a Local State Disaster issued in Bandera County. Judge Richard Evans signed the declaration regarding the threat of the New World Screwworm. The declaration is in effect for seven days; the court extended the declaration for 30 days. No areas of Bandera County have been placed under an animal movement quarantine by the Texas Animal Health Commission, "We have an imminent threat, we do not have a screwworm case in our county," Evans said.
