Suspicious package in Fredericksburg brings in the San Antonio PD bomb squad yesterday afternoon.  Police activity closed off  – Creek Street and South Adams Street. The Fredericksburg  Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious package around 2pm in the area. Evacuations were conducted of area businesses and residents. Fatality accident in Gillespie County Sunday night. At approximately 10:45 p.m., Texas DPS Troopers responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash on US-87 North near Cherry Mountain Loop. Preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on US-87 when the driver failed to maintain a single lane and struck the driver-side mirror of a Ford  F-550 who was also traveling northbound. Free trees in Boerne on Friday. At 10 am. The City of Boerne is giving away 150 trees to residents who show their City of Boerne utility bill. Trees are available on a first come, first serve basis. Limit one per person. The giveaway is in the green space between city hall and the library.

Hill Country Astronomers meet tonight, 6:30 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall of Zion Lutheran Church, 415 West Austin Street, Fredericksburg. Member, Phil Youngblood, PhD, will present on Dark Energy and Dark Matter. These two phenomena make up about 95% of the universe — yet they cannot be seen directly. Starting today, Atmos Energy is performing natural gas pipeline replacement in Fredericksburg that is expected to continue through the end of the year.  Traffic cones, barriers, and signage will be visible, and residents may notice construction crews and equipment in various areas of the city. Atmos Energy customers will not experience any service interruption while the work is being performed.

Carver Park Sprayground will opens for the season on   Sunday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m .  The sprayground, 820 Webster Street, Kerrville is free to the public and open through October from 10:00 a.m. until dark daily. On Tuesdays, the Sprayground is closed for routine maintenance.

A Historical Marker unveiling  at the Bertha Tyron-Hendrick Arnold Cemetery in Bandera Saturday, 02.28.26 at 11am.  The Bandera County Historical Commission is hosting the ceremony commemorating Bandera’s rich heritage with the dedication of a new informational history sign at the cemetery located on Old Medina Highway and Houston Street.

Privacy, crime and transparency were all concerns for Bandera citizens regarding License Plate Reader Technology. According to the Bandera Bulletin, the city plans to install the readers at each entrance into Bandera. The 14 thousand dollar funding is from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority Grant.

Boerne ISD to designate a period of prayer and religious reading. According to the Boerne Star, school board members voted 6 to 1 to support the Texas legislature resolution for prayer on campus. The school district is required to provide a physical and auditory separation for non-participating students.

Gas line installation continues on Water Street. This time on the sidewalk between Clay and Quinlan Streets. Expect sidewalk access to be intermittently closed through Tuesday, March 17 th  for the installation of a gas line to support the new restaurant in development, Panda Express. Use caution in the area and follow posted signage directing foot traffic through the work zones.

Gillespie Co - Nebo Mountain Fire - A disaster declaration has been issued to the state to request additional fire suppression resources and tools.  Fire acreage is around 1,160 and 90% containment. No structures are threatened at this time. Dozer lines held so far overnight due to improved weather conditions. No residential structures have been lost as of now.
