Fredericksburg HOT Funds
458 thousand dollars in HOT or Hotel Occupancy Tax funds distributed by Fredericksburg City Council this week. 25 applicants received the funds. Highlights of the 2026 recipients were the Admiral Nimitz Foundation, which operates the National Museum of the Pacific War. The museum received 150 thousand dollars as they welcomed over 120 thousand guests in 2025. The Gillespie County Historical Society, received $80 thousand dollars for preservation of the Fassel Roeder Home.

Bandera Co - Residents water restored
An update on the water situation in Bandera County. According to resident Charles Manley, all residents in Wharton Dock and Lake Medina Shores have water and water pressure restored in their households. An area supervisor reached out to Mr. Manley. Found were 130 leaks in vacant homes. Water valves are now turned off. 9 leaks found in the system which were repaired. And 3 water wells are operational with more water trucked in to top off the wells while the system recharges.

Fredericksburg - increase in service calls
Fredericksburg experiences an increase in service calls as visitors increase. Brush fires have doubled since 2024. The Fire and EMS Department are relying more on area VFD’s. The weekends are their busiest days. The city has had to juggle their resources for back to back calls. Assaults have also increased along with alcohol related arrests.

Kerrville - kidnapper apprehended
Kidnapper in Kerrville arrested in Somerville, Texas. Anthony Harwell, 35 kidnapped a 38-year-old woman late Monday evening from the parking garage on Water Street. She was taken to the garage by a friend to meet the man to retrieve personal property. The friend witnessed the woman being shoved into the car. Habitat for Humanity Kerr Co
Ten new homes for ten families in Kerrville’s Mariposa community for those impacted by last summer’s flooding. The ten disaster recovery homes were made possible through a Habitat for Humanity Kerr County partnership with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. Bandera Co - Drug bust
Weekend drug bust in Bandera County. On Saturday the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit executed a search warrant in the Polly Peak Subdivision. Found in the search were marijuana, (THC), methamphetamine and over $30,000 in cash. Arrested was Randy Stokes who faces multiple felony drug charges including possession with intent to deliver. Also, arrested was Ean Stokes. Both subjects were booked into the Bandera County Jail.

Bandera County’s Water issues continue for Lake Medina Shores neighborhood. Many homes are still without water. According to resident Charles Manley, his home has water but many neighbors don’t. Burnet Co - 391 Commission for transmission lines
Burnet County may be looking into a 391 Commission similar to the one formed by Kerr, Kendall and Gillespie Counties. Voter regristration cards delayed
Voters, the reason your voter registration cards are delayed are because of legal challenges of the redistricted Congressional maps.
