Kerrville-Kerr County Joint Airport Board now has the necessary approvals to build a new hangar at the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport.   The hangar is a $2 to $2.5 million project and will be built as a large corporate hangar which will attract larger corporate jets. Plans are underway and the hangar could be ready by the fall.

Town Hall meeting in Bandera. The topic is License Plate Reader Technology or LPR. LPR uses cameras placed in public areas to capture license plate information. It also captures the date, time and location plus the vehicle’s make, model and color. The meeting is at City Hall on Main Street.

Governor Greg Abbott celebrates the state’s record-breaking demand for school choice. Over 100 thousand Texas families submitted applications to the Texas Education Freedom Account program. This marks the largest launch of a new school choice program in U.S. history. Families can still apply through Tuesday, March 17 th .

Congratulations in order for Castle Lake Ranch VFD, Bandera County and Mountain Home VFD, Kerr County each received third round funding from the Texas A&M Forest Service . The Forest Service approved an additional $14 million in grants to Texas volunteer fire departments through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program last Friday. The 2 VFDs received 25 thousand dollars for PPE or Personal Protective Equipment and 10 thousand dollars for Training Aids.

Wildfires started spreading through the Texas panhandle and Oklahoma panhandle Tuesday. Starting Wednesday March 4 th , Bandera citizens will soon be hearing flood warning test sirens every first Wednesday of the month. According to the Daily Prophet, Bandera’s Public Works Director said that more citizen feedback is needed. The last siren test was in July of 2025. The siren installed in the 1940’s has to be manually activated.

Marktplatz Glockenspiel Project Approved by the Fredericksburg Market Square Council. The Council unanimously approved an agreement with the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance to design and construct a new Glockenspiel at Marktplatz. Renderings presented reveal a clock tower addition that complements the historic aesthetics of the square. Funding includes contributions from PCAA, Market Square Redevelopment Commission and the City’s Tourism Fund.

All candidate applications are in for the general election in May. Except in Kerrville, no eligible applications were filed for open races for Mayor and Council Member Place 3. The lone filing for Council Member Place 4 is Crystal Smith. Expect the election to be cancelled.

Academy Award winning actor Robert Duvall passed away on Monday, February 16th at the age of 95. Star of many popular movies, appeared in a hill country movie called Seven Days in Utopia. The movie, described as a Christian sports drama, was filmed in Utopia and Fredericksburg in 2011.
