Busy week for the legendary Museum of Western Art in Kerrville. Ribbon cutting ceremony at for the Tribute Garden for those lost in the July 4 th floods. The museum has kicked off a massive celebration with their Stars, Stripes, & States exhibit as part of the nationwide America 250 celebration. Legacy Elementary School in Uvalde reportedly received a threat on Wednesday. Uvalde County Law Enforcement confirmed the report was a hoax. Legacy is the replacement school for Robb Elementary. Although the threat was for a Uvalde school, Utopia ISD is in Uvalde County so, the school had extra law enforcement presence.

HOT funds disbursed by Gillespie County Commissioners recently. The amount awarded by the county totaled almost 285 thousand dollars. The Pedernales Creative Art Alliance received the most funding of this year’s applicants with $35,000.

Owners of 13 properties in Burnet could get flood relief in regards to their damaged properties. According to dailytrib.com , Burnet’s City Council authorized a flood buyout program this week in tandem with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. The Emergency Watershed Protection Program will assist the city in purchasing flood damaged properties. Burnet is the first Texas city to undergo an NRCS buyout.

Kerrville is taking their recent designation as a Tourism Friendly Certified Community to heart. A new tourism campaign is being launched at the end of this week according to the West Kerr Current. Burnett County Commissioners have filed as an intervener in the Bell County East to Big Hill 765 kilovolt transmission lines that are scheduled to cut through the county. A fight against a development near Canyon Lake. Fischer Neighbors are protesting an 840 high density residential development by Lennar Homes in Fischer. There is a 600 thousand gallon wastewater treatment plant proposed to support the development. The effluent water would be discharged into Potters Creek and Canyon Lake. According to the Bandera Bulletin, a grant is funding the cameras and the grant is the contract says City Attorney Matt Groves in response to Mayor Pro-tem Deanna McCabe’s question of an approved contract. Fredericksburg City Council recently discussed amending the City Code definition of establishments for sexually oriented businesses, vape shops, game of skill parlors and tattoo studios. Chapter 26 of the City Code may also be amended to include regulations on minimum distance requirements and operational standards of “Sexually Oriented Businesses” in relation to residential neighborhoods, schools, churches, parks, playgrounds and daycare facilities.
