Pet registration on Saturday for 3 upcoming clinics for Kerr County residents.  Kerrville Pets Alive is taking registration from 9am to 11am at Town and Country Animal Hospital, 2710 Junction Highway, Kerrville. Bring proof of residency. You don’t have to bring your pets for registration.

Medina County, expect 2 more Microsoft Data Centers this year. Construction to start in April for one at FM1957 with another one starting construction in August on FM 471 North. Both near Castroville. according to the San Antonio Business Journal. Microsoft plans to build 10 data centers in Bexar and Medina counties.

Hunters for the Hungry team up with Texas Parks and Wildlife to donate venison to area food banks. Take your legally tagged field dressed deer to a participating processor and they will distribute the processed deer to a food bank closest to you. In the Hill Country, the deer will go to the San Antonio Food Bank.

Ingram ISD has a new superintendent.  Dr. Justin Turner began his tenure yesterday, January the first. Turner replaces interim superintendent, Dr. Mindy Curran  who resigned in October to leave for another school district.

Bank robber thwarted in Kerrville. On Tuesday, Kerrville Police Department arrested George Washington Waring the second, 42 for attempting to rob the Kerr County Federal Credit Union on Junction Highway. Waring, of Kerrville, demanded money from a bank teller using a note. He left emptyhanded and with eyewitness descriptions, Waring was arrested in a felony traffic stop and booked into the Kerr County jail.

January is National Blood Drive Month. Several blood drives are scheduled for the Hill Country. In Kerrville, The Wash Tub is having a blood drive on Saturday, 9 to 5. Sunday, HEB on Junction Highway blood drive is from 9 to 1. HEB, Sidney Baker Blood drive is Monday, 9 to 2 and HEB, Fredericksburg is also Monday, 9 to 1. Register at donor.southtexasblood.org .

Tuesday is the last day to experience the l ighting of the Fredericksburg Community Christmas tree  and German Christmas Pyramid at Marktplatz. Featured is the town’s German heritage and holiday carol, concluding with a countdown to the lighting of Marktplatz. Festivities start at 5 p.m.

Fires in Blanco County allegedly intentionally set. Blanco County’s Fire Marshal issued a statement that the fire department has responded to multiple vegetation fires in southwestern Blanco County. The investigation is ongoing. Residents are asked if they see any suspicious activity to call 911.

As a new Academy Sports and Outdoors is being built in River Hills Mall in Kerrville, a few businesses had to relocate. One of them Level Up Arcade has re-opened as a hobby game store. The new business is now at Bandera Highway.

No more staggered trash and recycling schedules in Boerne. Starting Monday, most residents can expect to have their trash and recycling picked up on the same day. Herff Ranch residents, your trash and recycling collection is now on Thursdays.

Kerr County Stock Show kicks off Monday morning with the Cowboy Breakfast from 6am to 8am. The breakfast is now at the Hill Country Youth Event Center. For the first time, the event competitions like cow patty tossing and goat milking are open to the public.  Then on Tuesday, the Stock Show opens at 8am. Kerr County Veterans Service Office hours will change due to a temporary schedule over the next month. Staffing will be minimal.  From Dec. 1-9, office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed on Fridays.) Then, from Dec. 10-19, the office is closing. Veterans can leave voicemails and continue to drop off paperwork in the lockbox. GVTC honors first responders with flood relief donations. The donations came from customers and employees. The GVTC Foundation held a Game Day 5K with first responders. According to thehorse.com , the outbreak of equine herpesvirus-1 also known as EHV-1 has many owners looking for clear accurate information about the disease. 7 states including Texas have confirmed cases. The first cases in Texas stemmed from an event in Waco earlier this month. A thousand horses were competing in barrel racing events. Two thirds were from Texas. Guatemalan Man Sentenced to Prison for Crimes Against Children in Kendall County.  Eduardo De Jesus Pineda Quinonez, 35, receives a 50 year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division for Possession of Child Pornography. Quinonez is also sentenced to an additional 20 years for Indecency with a Child after pleading guilty to both charges.
